This Banksia menziesii plant is located area of native bushland called the Inglewood Triangle close to Mount Lawley High School. The warmth of colour in the painting can be experienced in the late afternoon light and conveys some element of hope that we can continue to protect this bushland from development and climate change. This painting belongs to a series of expressive paintings called “Everything is connected” that express how Banksia menziesii flowers draw in both pollinators and human viewers using colour and wonder. Pollinators are essential for the ongoing survival of the bushland. However, in modern times, the survival of the bushland also relies on human intervention through dieback prevention, replanting and monitoring.
